The Premier League summer transfer window has now closed, but Manchester United are still trying to offload Andre Onana.
The error-prone Cameroonian, who joined United in a €55m deal from Inter, has fallen down the pecking order, with Ruben Amorim showing more trust in Altay Bayindir. The Turkey international has started in all of the side’s first three league games.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have offered the 29-year-old to Trabzonspor, with the transfer window in Turkey still open.
Further, a report in Spain suggests the Red Devils have already identified Onana’s replacement.
Manchester United eye move for Maignan
According to Fichajes, United have set their sights on Mike Maignan, who has entered the final year of his contract at AC Milan.
It is claimed United view the opportunity to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer as “very attractive”.
The 30-year-old is considered one of Europe’s best goalkeepers, owing to his excellent shot-stopping ability and passing accuracy.
Maignan is reportedly willing to move to the Premier League, and United appear to be “an ideal setting for his next step.”
Milan want to renew the France international’s contract, but United’s interest has increased the pressure on the Serie A giants, as the Mancunians have “already positioned” themselves to secure Maignan’s signature.
Lammens’ role at Man United remains uncertain
United signed highly-rated Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day.
As per The Athletic, the 23-year-old was “not scouted and recruited with the expectation of stepping straight into a starting role.” However, Amorim could be compelled to put Lammens straight into the starting lineup due to Onana and Bayindir’s frailties.
United number one is bound to attract immense scrutiny, which could prove to be tricky for Lammens, who arrives at Old Trafford with just one full season as Antwerp’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
