Manchester United are reportedly in negotiations with Juventus over a swap deal involving misfiring star Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund’s struggles at United
Hojlund has struggled at United since he joined the club in a £72m move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023. The Dane has managed 26 goals in 95 competitive matches for United. This tally includes the four Premier League goals he netted last term.
But frustrations with Hojlund go well beyond his disappointing numbers.
His overall performances have been infuriating for supporters. During his time at Old Trafford, and especially over the past year, Hojlund has struggled with the basics of leading the line, such as holding up the ball, linking play, and making intelligent runs.
United are believed to be open to selling him, with the club looking to cut their losses and secure the services of a more reliable replacement.
Hojlund attracting interest from Italy
The strongest interest in Hojlund appears to be coming from Italy, with the likes of Inter Milan and AS Roma thought to be eyeing him.
More recently, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that AC Milan had established contact to explore the conditions of a potential deal for the forward.
Now, Tuttosport reveal that Hojlund has also come up during talks between United and Juventus for Jadon Sancho.
Juventus and United discuss Hojlund
According to the news outlet, Hojlund features on United’s wishlist and there have been some negotiations over a transfer.
It’s understood that a swap deal involving Hojlund and midfielder Douglas Luiz is on the cards. Luiz is a United target, with Amorim on the hunt for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Tuttosport state, ” Manchester United and Juventus continue to talk regardless of the winger’s [Sancho] situation. They did so some time ago regarding Douglas Luiz, who remains in the Red Devils’ sights, although he’s not currently a priority (though there’s constant demand for information) and therefore not particularly hot.”
“Potential swaps are therefore still being discussed—and the one between the Brazilian and Hojlund has never faded—in an attempt to mutually resolve some issues.”
The report adds that Juventus could also offer United Dusan Vlahovic, whose exit could set the ball rolling for multiple arrivals in Turin.
