Manchester United considered the possibility of signing Antoine Semenyo as part of their attacking overhaul over the summer, as per reports. During the summer transfer window, United parted ways with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund. However, they only brought in three new attackers: Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. United also reportedly held talks with Semenyo before Bournemouth convinced the left winger to sign a new five-year contract, valid until 2030. Given his potential, the 25-year-old is very unlikely to see out the full term of his contract. Still, the summer agreement should help the Cherries inflate his transfer value. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United remain interested in Semenyo and are willing to pay “big money” to secure his signature. Semenyo demands January exit Semenyo has started the season in sensational form, having scored six goals and registered three assists in 11 Premier League appearances. Amid his rapid rise, it is being claimed that the Ghana international is ready to take the next step in his career, sooner than many expected. According to a report from a transfer insider relayed by Football365, Semenyo has “asked to leave Bournemouth in January.” Antoine Semenyo 24/25 stats CompetitionAppearancesGoalsAssistsMinutes Premier League371163210 FA Cup421330 EFL Cup1–22 Total421373562 Source: Transfermarkt If that is indeed the case, United should certainly look to test Bournemouth’s resolve for their star forward, who is thought to be valued at around £70m. Liverpool are also widely reported to be keen on Semenyo. Man United could benefit from a new forward United’s new signings have shown signs of promise as a front three. However, there is still room for another prolific forward. Mbeumo is enjoying a hot run of form, but Cunha and Sesko have only scored a combine three goals in all competitions so far. Further, Joshua Zirkzee wants to leave United during the winter transfer window, having struggled for frequent opportunities under Ruben Amorim.
