United make major decision on Rashfod’s future as Barcelona drag feet on permanent deal – report

Manchester United have reportedly made a major decision amidst the possibility of Marcus Rashford returning to the club at the end of the season. Uncertain Barcelona move Rashford has done well in Barcelona since joining the club last summer on a season-long loan deal. He has netted an impressive 10 goals in 39 appearances for the reigning La Liga champions. Barcelona retain the option to make his stay permanent for £25.9m, but they have yet to clearly indicate whether they will take it up. The Blaugrana want to keep him, although they want to renegotiate a reduced fee with United.  President Joan Laporta floated the idea of another loan deal, which would see them defer Rashford’s payment by another year. Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, explained that a number of factors must align to allow them to keep Rashford. United have made it clear they have no intention of entering fresh talks with Barcelona over Rashford’s future. This has been corroborated by ESPN, who note that United are prepared to welcome the forward back. Rashford update ESPN also report that with Ruben Amorim now gone, Rashford is likely to be part of the first team should he return. The pair’s fractured relationship was the driving force behind his exit, which saw Amorim eventually banish him to the infamous bomb squad. The news outlet says that United “are relaxed” about the situation and are confident that there will be no shortage of interest in Rashford if Barcelona don’t permanently sign him. “Sources have told ESPN that United believe Rashford’s form in Spain has increased his value and that they could potentially negotiate a higher fee with another club.” “Sources have told ESPN that there have been enquiries from a number of clubs in England and Europe about Rashford’s potential availability amid the uncertainty about his future.” In terms of Rashford’s position, ESPN say, “Rashford, according to sources close to the forward, would prefer to stay at Barcelona, but hasn’t ruled out returning to United.” But with United actively on the hunt for a new left winger, Rashford’s reintegration remains a distinct possibility. Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig), Mateus Mane (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Iliman Ndiaye (Everton) are some wingers United continue to be linked with.
