United make contact for ex-Man City midfielder, 25-yo has turned into midfield monster in different league – report

Manchester United appear to be fighting a losing battle with Manchester City for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson. United regard Anderson as their preferred midfielder to replace Casemiro. However, City are widely reported to be in pole position to sign the Englishman. They are willing to meet Anderson‘s wage demands and are more likely to go past the £100m-mark required to sign him. Meanwhile, United might find an answer to their midfield woes in a former City man. Manchester United in contact for Felix Nmecha According to Sky Sports Germany (via the Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are among the clubs following Borussia Dortmund midfield lynchpin Felix Nmecha. Earlier this year, Dortmund tied Nmecha to the club on a new contract until June 2030. However, that has done little to deter his suitors. It is claimed United are still in “contact” with the intermediaries of the Germany international ahead of a potential summer move. Newcastle United and Man City are also in the mix.  It is suggested that Dortmund would like to keep hold of Nmecha, but every player has his price. Furthermore, should a major offer from England arrive, the 25-year-old German could push for a transfer, as he is open to a Premier League move. The 6ft 3in midfielder combines his massive frame and technical ability to retain possession and progress the play from deep. The all-action midfield monster has also become a regular fixture in the Germany squad and is flying to America for the World Cup. Nmecha came through the City academy before moving to VfL Wolfsburg in 2021. He then joined Dortmund in 2023 for a fee of around £25.9 million. Manchester United trying to sign David Eze Meanwhile, on Monday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are eyeing a raid on neighbours City for their highly rated talent David Eze. The Red Devils are thought to be prepared to offer the 16-year-old midfielder an opportunity to make the switch to Old Trafford. In 2023, United snatched Darren Fletcher’s twin sons, Jack and Tyler, from their rivals. Both players have developed rapidly at Carrington since.  Featured image Christof Koepsel via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
