He has gone down in club folklore as the player who scored the last minute winner in the Champions League final to secure the treble in 1999. Solskjaer spent 11 years at United and developed the reputation as “super sub” where he could frequently enter games and change them in Sir Alex Ferguson’s side favour. The Norwegian was also manager of the club between 2018-2021, finishing second in the league and he was a penalty shootout loss away from bringing home the Europa League. 2) Ronny Johnsen The reliable centre back was a key partner of Jaap Stam in the treble winning side of 1999. He won a total of three league titles whilst at United and his comfort on the ball allowed him to play as a defensive midfielder from time to time. 3) Henning Berg Another central defender who played a key role for United in the late 1990s. He spent five seasons at Blackburn Rovers, winning the league title there in 1995. Berg arrived at Old Trafford in 1997 and despite spending only three years at the club, played an important role in winning two league titles. 4) Erik Nevland The youngster joined the academy in 1997 from Viking. He did score one goal for the United senior team in a League Cup game versus Bury in October 1998. Nevland would later have a spell with Fulham from 2008-2010, finishing runner-up in the Europa League final. 5) Joshua King Josh King played twice for Man United’s senior team, coming on as a sub in 2009 and 2010. He enjoyed a successful time at AFC Bournemouth and almost made a stunning return to Old Trafford in 2020 but a deal fell through. – The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
