United loanee helps side end 30-year-trophy drought as they coast to European victory

Manchester United had one player out on loan on Wednesday night. To find out where all of Manchester United’s players are plying their trade this season, click here. Jadon Sancho Few Manchester United players have disappointed in a red shirt as Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils chased the player over two summers but finally landed him for £73 million in 2021. Unfortunately, things never worked out for the winger, and he only played 83 times for the club, scoring 12 goals. He has not started for the team since 2023, and he has been on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. Amazingly, he has played in three European finals in that time, losing the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund in 2024. He did win and score in the final of the Conference League last year and was also victorious with Aston Villa in the Europa League final last night. Performance Sancho has played a bit-part role all season at Villa Park, and this did not change in Istanbul as Aston Villa ran out 3-0 winners over Freiburg. He played the final nine minutes of the match and had just five touches of the ball. The winger also made no key passes or completed any dribbles. He did make both his passes, though, but lost his only duel attempt in his limited time on the pitch. Still, despite little impact, he was on the pitch when Aston Villa claimed their first trophy since 1996 and their first European title since 1982. Future Sancho is likely to leave Manchester United at the end of the season as a free agent, but a report last night suggested that the Red Devils may extend his contract by a year to try and receive a transfer fee for the Englishman.
