United line up move for £39m “assist king” to support Amad, club in position to complete deal even without CL – report

Manchester United are reportedly interested in KRC Genk prodigy Konstantinos Karetsas. It has been widely reported that United are in the hunt for a new left winger, having been strongly linked with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. As far as the opposite flank is concerned, United look good, at least on paper. Both Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo have featured regularly for the Red Devils this season. However, Mbeumo has looked more effective as a central forward than as an out-and-out winger. Manchester United want competition for Amad Diallo According to SportsBoom, Manchester United have set their sights on Konstantinos Karetsas as they see him as a project player who could support Amad Diallo. Karetsas is enjoying an outstanding season. The 18-year-old Greek prodigy, who was born in Belgium, has already become Genk’s starting right winger. He has made 45 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and registering a staggering 18 assists. Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well, Karetsas has been compared to Bernardo Silva for his link-up ability and has been described as the “assist king”. Karetsas is understood to be “exactly” the type of player United want to complement Diallo at Old Trafford. Manchester United in strong financial position to sign Konstantinos Karetsas The Greek international is under contract until 2029. As such, Genk are going to make it very difficult for his suitors, including United, to prise him away in the summer. It is claimed they are demanding €45 million (£39.1m) to open negotiations for the teenage tempo-setter. “Any club that meets or exceeds that valuation will gain the advantage, while increasing offers will naturally drive the price even higher,” the report adds.  Konstantinos Karetsas Stats: 2025/26 Season CompetitionAppearancesGoalsAssistsYellow Cards Jupiler Pro League28-113 Europa League11251 Europa League Qualifying2— Croky Cup212- JPL Europe Play-Offs2— Interestingly, it is understood that United have the “financial capacity to complete such a deal” even if Champions League qualification is not secured. Karetsas has previously been linked with Real Madrid, but at the moment, his chances of moving to the Premier League are “significantly higher than any other league.” Chelsea and Manchester City are also monitoring the Genk star.
