United legend suffers “heart-breaking” moment whilst managing in his side’s latest match

Former Manchester United player Robin van Persie experienced a horrible moment while managing Feyenoord. United career Van Persie played 278 times for Arsenal, scoring 132 goals. He shocked the Premier League with a blockbuster move to Manchester United in 2012 and won the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford. The Dutchman spent three seasons at United, scoring 58 goals in 105 matches. Managerial career He finished his playing days at Fenerbahce and Feyenoord before moving into coaching. Last season, he managed Heerenveen and took charge of Feyenoord last summer. During his side’s 2-1 defeat to Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday, Van Persie suffered something much worse than a loss. Son’s injury The Daily Mail reports that, “Robin van Persie was forced to watch as his son picked up a ‘heartbreaking’ major injury on duty for his Feyenoord side in their Europa League defeat to Real Betis on Tuesday evening.” His 19-year-old son, Shaqueel van Persie, has made waves so far, scoring his first goals for the Dutch side in recent weeks. But only days later, “van Persie Sr had to contend with every parent’s nightmare” when his son Shaqueel was taken off the pitch injured after landing awkwardly in the immediate aftermath of a high challenge. The youngster was seen clutching his knee in agony, and Van Persie had to forget his role as manager and sat by the side of the pitch comforting his son while he was on the stretcher. Not looking good When asked to comment on the moment after the match, the former United striker said, “it’s not looking good. Tests have to point out how he’s doing, but the first signs are not looking good. You hold your heart when any player goes down with an injury. It happened to be Shaqueel today, that’s just how it is. You hope for the best, but when you hear the first signs that it isn’t, it’s heartbreaking.” He elaborated on his role as a father as well as his coach and stated, “I’m a coach, but I’m also his father, and I find this terrible. It’s a bit of both. It’s heartbreaking that he’s going through this.” Robin van Persie career stats ClubMatches playedGoals scoredYears Active Feyenoord71282001-04 Arsenal2781322004-2012 Man United105582012-15 Fenerbahce87362015-18 Feyenoord45252018-19 Source: Wikipedia The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
