United “in ongoing talks” with La Liga club over loan move for player yet to start in PL under Amorim – Sky

Manchester United are currently in dialogue with multiple clubs including La Liga outfit Real Betis over a January loan deal for Antony, reports Sky Sports.

Antony joined United from Ajax back in 2022 as he reunited with former manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford for a mammoth £86million fee.

However, he has failed to live up to his massive price tag so far, returning just 17 goal contributions across two-and-a-half seasons at United.

The Brazilian has failed to break into Ruben Amorim’s plans and it seems like his time at Old Trafford is surely coming to an end. Antony has not made a single Premier League start since Amorim replaced Ten Hag in the United dugout.

Greek side Olympiacos have been mentioned to be an interested party in Antony’s signature but he’s not believed to be too keen on joining them. A report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that West Ham are also eyeing Antony.

Late last month, it emerged that Real Betis had sounded out United to explore the possibility of getting a loan transfer for Antony over the line.

It was stated that Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini considers the 24-year-old an ideal option for his brand of football.

Now, Sky Sports reveal that United are in talks with Betis and other unnamed clubs to determine Antony’s immediate future.

According to Sky, “Manchester United are in ongoing talks with a number of clubs – including Real Betis – over a loan for Antony.”

“United will consider offers for the 24-year-old – with the most likely deal being a loan.”

“Betis are in the market for a winger having just sold Assane Diao to Como.”

Antony’s contract with United runs until 2027, with the Red Devils retaining an option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months.
