United have to overcome Arsenal’s challenge to land Argentine wonderkid compared with World Cup winner – report

Following their Europa League final failure, Manchester United will have to recalibrate their summer transfer plans given the expected reduced war-chest.

Ruben Amorim confirmed the same on Tuesday, before the club’s first post-season friendly, claiming not much in terms of incomings are expected and young players will be targeted.

INEOS’ arrival has already seen focus shift from signing big-name players to stars with potential to improve and that is expected to continue in the summer.

Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven are perfect examples with the South American market once again set to become an important market with scouts specifically asked to focus on this hotbed of talent.

Juan Giménez transfer battle

This approach has already borne fruit with Diego Leon set to join in the summer and more could be on the way with the Red Devils interested in Rosario Central’s Juan Giménez.

Now, Fussball Europa have claimed that Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for the 19-year-old while Arsenal have also taken a liking to the centre-back’s talents.

Rosario Central will ask for €4.5 million to €5 million for the Argentine wonderkid who has six months left on his current deal.

Arsenal vs United for Juan Giménez

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has added Arsenal’s name into the mix.

“Talented Juan Gimenez, one of the names Borussia Dortmund are considering. As revealed here and also on Arsenal’s shortlist,” he wrote on X.

United have been aware of the Argentina wonderkid’s talents for sometime now and even scouted him back in 2024. He had created history by becoming the second defender in the history of Central to make his senior debut before turning 18.

Giménez already has 22 appearances for the Rosario senior team and has also impressed under Argentina great Javier Mascherano at the U20 national level. He has been compared to World Cup winner Cristian Romero, currently plying his trade for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The Peoples Person had already relayed that the 20-time English league champions are in talks with Rosario to land Juan Gimenez, and were even open to loaning him out till December to win the race.
