United have “made inquiries” about Serie A record-breaking “warrior” who fits Amorim’s system like a glove – report

Manchester United’s defence has lost two experienced heads in the form of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, and if funds permit, Ruben Amorim could do with reinforcements.

Not to mention Luke Shaw’s injury record and the fitness issues of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez, who could also be set for a positional change.

Long-term target Evan Ndicka seems to be back on the club’s radar after a splendid season for AS Roma, with RMC Sport claiming the Red Devils have made inquiries about the Ivorian’s availability this summer.

Last term, the 25-year-old played 51 times for the Serie A side, helping keep 19 clean sheets while also contributing with a goal and two assists.

Evan Ndicka was a revelation last season for AS Roma

In fact, he was so important for the Giallorossi that he played 90 minutes in all league games, a feat not achieved by any other Roma outfield player since 2004.

The report also mentioned Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the former Eintracht Frankfurt ace, with Roma valuing him at €40 million.

The centre-back will assess all the projects presented to his camp before taking a final call. His left-footed profile is just what Ruben Amorim needs while he excels in a back-three system but a deal will depend on the funds available.

“After a great season at AS Roma, with whom he is under contract until 2028, Ivorian international defender Evan Ndicka (25) has caught the eye of Premier League teams.

United, Spurs both fighting for the defender

“Tottenham and Manchester United have made inquiries about the Parisian native, who trained at Auxerre. Ndicka, valued at €40 million, will take the time to consider the offers and projects presented.”

It is well known that INEOS have prioritised improving the team’s attack this window, after which they will look for a cost-effective midfield solution.

If funds are still available at that stage will defensive reinforcements be sought. For now, for the price being mentioned, it is unlikely that Evan Ndicka will be Old Trafford-bound this summer.

But should the “warrior” remain in Rome and continue his good form, the 20-time English league champions might come back for him in the next summer window.
