Manchester United are set to move on Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford, while the future of Alejandro Garnacho is also up in the air.
Ruben Amorim could do with more pace running in behind, and as per Fichajes, the Red Devils are looking at AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao.
The Rossoneri need funds desperately after missing out on European football for next season, and they are willing to part ways with their talisman.
It will not be a cheap operation though, with the Serie A giants asking for €100 million to part ways with the Portugal international.
Rafael Leao on United’s radar
Bayern Munich, who could be about to lose Leroy Sane in the summer window, are also gunning for the former Sporting CP ace.
“The summer transfer window promises to be a fierce battle between Bayern Munich and Manchester United for Rafael Leao, one of the most coveted wingers in European football.
“Both clubs see the AC Milan striker as a key player in restructuring their attacks for next season and have already initiated talks to explore his signing.
“AC Milan, aware of the interest in their star, isn’t considering his departure for less than €100 million.
“The key to this deal will depend on the player’s willingness and the clubs’ ability to afford such a large investment. The bidding process is currently open.”
Bayern also eyeing him
Rafael Leao managed 12 goals and 13 assists last season, while the season prior, he netted 15 times while registering 14 assists. These stats display his consistency, while he has been described as “magic in motion” when in full flow.
While the Portuguese forward excels on the left, he can play up top and even in a more withdrawn attacking midfield role, which will suit Amorim’s system just fine.
With United already securing Matheus Cunha, who also operates from the left, and Bryan Mbeumo to come, there is very little space for Leao even though fans would love a signing of his ilk.
The United head coach’s system employs attacking midfielders more than out-and-out wingers, which explains the departures of Garnacho and Co, so take this report with a hefty pinch of salt.
