Manchester United are languishing in 14th position, just six points off the relegation zone and it is clear to see that Ruben Amorim needs help in the January transfer window to get the club to safety.
Based on recent results, quite a few stars have been put on the market including Marcus Rashford, who recently declared his intention to leave his boyhood club.
INEOS need to raise money through player sales if they are to delve into the market and selling a homegrown asset would count as pure profit. The academy graduate does not seem to be in the coach’s plans with the new co-owners backing his stance.
He has not featured in the last four Premier League games with the head coach and his teammates not too impressed with his interview.
Rashford’s future
While United would prefer a permanent sale this window, the Mancunian’s asking price and his humongous wages of £300,000 per week would be difficult to match for most teams in January.
Saudi Arabian teams certainly have the means to land the Englishman but the forward has no intention of moving to the Middle East at this stage of his career.
Turkish giants — Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have both expressed their interest in the United No 10 but the deal will be difficult for them to afford.
Spain is where the 27-year-old’s heart seems to lie but Real Madrid have a plethora of attacking talent at their disposal while Barcelona have not been able to register Dani Olmo, such are their financial woes.
As per TBR Football, Atletico Madrid might be an option or Napoli, who have proposed a swap deal with Victor Osimhen,
but no concrete talks have taken place. And hence, the club are prepared to hold on to Rashford till summer.
“TBR Football understands that Marcus Rashford has confirmed to Manchester United that he is not considering moving to Saudi Arabia or Turkey – two destinations that were open for the England international.
Rashford could yet remain at United
“His landing spots in La Liga are limited. Real Madrid are not interested, whilst Barcelona have previously shown an interest but their current financial situation means they have not even entertained an offer.
“Atletico Madrid are one side who could offer a possible opportunity, but as yet they have not made contact. Indeed, United sources have indicated to TBR Football that they are fully prepared for Rashford to remain at the club beyond January.”
Whether that would be a productive move remains to be seen. The team needs to focus and talks over Rashford’s future could become a distraction.
If Amorim does not utilise him, it might be best to find a solution so that the club can go out and secure a replacement in order to salvage what is left of this season.
