United fans will be furious with Ineos’ latest outrageous ploy that takes advantage of loyal matchgoers – report

Manchester United fans will be furious with Ineos over a scheme that may be introduced for the new stadium.

Ineos alienating loyal fans

United fans were over the moon when plans were announced to build a new state of the art stadium that could seat 100,000 people.

Nonetheless, that joy has been short-lived for many supporters who attend matches due to Ineos’ questionable decisions lately.

Numerous fans were upset by the decision to raise matchday ticket prices yet again for the upcoming season.

What’s more, many fans have expressed their concern with how Sir Jim Ratcliffe is running the club in numerous surveys that have been carried out.

New Personal Seat Licence

The Daily Mail reports that the matchday experience for fans could be about to get even more expensive when the club moves to the new stadium.

The paper reports that “Manchester United are considering charging fans up to £4,000 – purely for the right to buy a season ticket at their planned new stadium.”

They go on to state that “Mail Sport understands that a highly controversial introduction of a ‘Personal Seat Licence’ (PSL) – a system commonplace in America but not yet seen in the Premier League – was one of a number of proposals presented to fans by US-based consultants CSL International.”

United do stress that no final decision has been made and talks are just exploratory but it could be a major concern for supporters.

The system would essentially mean that the fans who spend the £4,000 fee for the PSL, “would then have first refusal on the seat for the next 30 years. However, should they fail to buy a season ticket they would automatically lose the licence.”

Ratcliffe has warned of further costs

With the new stadium reportedly set to cost £2 billion, United will need to get creative to find funding.

Ratcliffe has already complained about the financial state of the club and he has claimed in previous interviews that the club will have to generate more cash at the expense of the fans.

Supporters will also be worried about how these new charges might price out traditional match-going fans and could consequently, completely change the atmosphere of the stadium.
