RB Leipzig are reportedly considering a significant decision in an effort to thwart advances for Yan Diomande, with Manchester United among those lurking. Attacking reinforcements United are bracing for another busy summer transfer window and the attack is an area of the pitch they could look to bolster. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are expected to depart permanently at the end of the season. Sancho is in the final months of his United contract while Barcelona are contemplating keeping Rashford. If both leave, United will be left severely short of depth in the left-wing position. In addition to Diomande, other players believed to be on the club’s transfer wishlist include Mateus Mane (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) and Iliman Ndiaye (Everton). Diomande is enjoying a breakthrough season with Leipzig, having joined the club last summer from Spanish club CD Leganés. He has taken the Bundesliga by storm, notching an impressive 10 goals and five assists in 26 appearances. He has also earned nine caps for the Ivory Coast, scoring as many goals in that period. A blistering and tricky winger, it’s no wonder that Diomande is of interest to United. Liverpool have also been mentioned as admirers of the player. Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has issued an update on the player. According to Plettenberg, Leipzig are keen to hand Diomande a new and improved contract which will not have a release clause, giving themselves the licence to demand whatever sum they want to sanction his sale. Diomande transfer update Plettenberg wrote on X, “RB Leipzig are planning to reward Yan Diomande with a new deal and performance-based pay rise, without adding a release clause.” “RB want to keep their 19 y/o gem for another season, but would consider offers starting at €100m.” “Liverpool are closely monitoring him and remain in contact with his agents.” 🚨🆕 RB Leipzig are planning to reward Yan #Diomande with a new deal and performance-based pay rise, without adding a release clause. The situation is certainly one to keep a close eye on. Feature image Boris Streubel via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
