Manchester United’s goalscoring troubles have failed to improve despite investing over £200m on their attack in the summer transfer window.
Ruben Amorim’s team have scored just nine goals in seven games in the Premier League this season – the second-lowest tally among the top ten in the league table.
From the new signings, Benjamin Sesko has scored two goals while Matheus Cunha is yet to open his account for his new club. Bryan Mbeumo has also found the back of the net twice, though only one of these has come in the league.
For context, Arsenal have scored 14 times in seven games, while reigning champions Liverpool have found the back of the net on 13 occasions.
Amorim could be tempted to seek solutions in the middle of the campaign. Recent reports suggest that United are already eyeing a 60m deal for Al-Qadsiah striker Mateo Retegui in January.
It now appears that a Real Madrid starlet is also on the club’s radar.
United want Endrick in January
According to Mark Brus via Caught Offside, United are among eight clubs eyeing a move for Enrick in January.
Brus wrote: “The talented young Brazilian striker is out of favour at the Bernabeu and has around eight clubs looking at him as a transfer target.
“Man Utd are understood to be one of the teams interested in Endrick, along with others in the Premier League and elsewhere in Europe.”
Endrick arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2024, but failed to strike a chord under former manager Carlo Ancelotti. His situation hasn’t improved under new manager Xabi Alonso, with the youngster yet to make an appearance this season.
The situation has added to speculation regarding the Brazilian’s future. Los Blancos may be open to a loan exit to help him continue his development with regular football.
United are poised to take advantage of the opportunity, and prise him away midway through the season.
Endrick will be wary of a move to Old Trafford
Benjamin Sesko remains the preferred choice for the No. 9 role at the Theatre of Dreams, while Amorim also has Joshua Zirkzee in his squad.
However, the Dutchman remains linked with an exit in the winter after struggling for chances so far. Chido Obi, meanwhile, has yet to feature for the senior side this season.
Endrick could be a fine alternative to Zirkzee and add valuable depth to Amorim’s attack.
However, the Brazilian may be cautious about a move to United, given how the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee have struggled during their time at the club.
The Red Devils have not been at their best for a while, and the 19 year old could find it challenging to cope with expectations at Old Trafford at a point in his career when progression on the pitch is the main priority.
