United eyeing 2025 Golden Boy Web winner likened to Iniesta, €30m will seal the deal – report

Manchester United’s search for the next emerging midfield talent has taken them to Olympiacos’ doorstep. The Red Devils are reaping the rewards of a well-planned summer transfer window, during which they strengthened the attack and the goalkeeping positions. Ruben Amorim’s side have improved in leaps and bounds this season and are unbeaten in their last five games. They sit seventh in the Premier League table after 11 matches, eight points behind leaders Arsenal. The job, however, is far from complete, and further additions are necessary to maintain their upward trajectory. One area that requires urgent attention is the midfield. Midfield the main forcus in 2026 United’s engine room is in immediate need of reinforcements, even though Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have been outstanding so far. The Brazilian’s contract expires in just over six months, and he is set to turn 34 in February. Manuel Ugarte was signed as the veteran midfielder’s successor, but the Uruguayan has struggled to impress so far. With Kobbie Mainoo linked with an exit in 2026, the Red Devils could also be tempted to boost their midfield with an injection of youth in 2026. Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Adam Whatton and Angelo Stiller are the names doing the rounds for the job. However, securing their services will not be easy due to the cost involved and the fierce competition for their signatures. The English giants are expected to keep an eye out for alternatives and it now appears that they have set their sights on a highly rated Greek talent. United want Christos Mouzakitis According to TUTTOSPORT, United are among the clubs keeping a close watch on Olympiacos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis. The 18 year old rose through the ranks at the Greek club and has already broken into the first team. The left-footed midfielder has been impressive so far, and recently won the 2025 Golden Boy Web Award, handed out by TUTTOSPORT. The award is based on votes from football fans and readers of the Italian publication. Mouzakitis won the award by securing 39% of the votes, while Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz, who won the award last year, finished second with 31.8% of the votes. The Greek youngster won the UEFA Youth League in the 2023/24 season, while also lifting the Super League Greece and the Greek Football Cup last campaign. Mouzakitis has been compared to legendary Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta by the Greek media, although he reportedly idolises Croatian maestro Luka Modric. While Olympiacos would prefer to keep hold of their prized asset, who is under contract until 2029, it is believed that club owner Evangelos Marinakis could sanction a move for €30 million. United have the resources to complete such a deal, but it remains a substantial fee for a relatively unproven youngster. However, there is no doubt that Mouzakitis has a very high ceiling, and he could prove to be a wise investment in the coming years. Christos Mouzakitis’s performance vs PSV by the numbers. Incredibly active on both sides of the ball, most ball recoveries on the team, 2nd most interceptions, 2nd highest defensive duel success. Apparently he can fill the press pretty well🤷‍♂️ despite what some may say!… pic.twitter.com/CiqfvyLYl6 — Thrylos 7 International (@Thrylos7Intl) November 5, 2025 Featured image Diogo Cardoso via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
