Manchester United are among a number of European clubs chasing Gilberto Mora.
Mora has emerged as the next big thing to come out of North America, having raised eyebrows with his scintillating performances for Club Tijuana.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder is the youngest scorer in Liga MX history, and overtook Pele and Lamine Yamal to become the youngster player to win an international trophy after lifting the Concacaf Gold Cup with Mexico in July.
The Mexico international, who has three goals and an assist to his name in Liga MX Apertura this season, has drawn comparisons to Barcelona superstar Pedri, owing to his technical prowess and passing vision. He is comfortable with both feet and likes to play between the lines.
As such, Europe’s biggest clubs are lining up to sign the youngster.
Man United interested in signing Gilberto Mora
According to Mundo Deportivo, Mora has long been on the radar of European giants like United, Real Madrid, and Ajax.
Barcelona have also been recently linked with the sensational talent.
It is revealed that Mora’s agent, Rafaela Pimienta, has suggested that the starlet could “make the jump to European football as soon as the summer of 2026, emphasising that the youngster is already ‘ready’ for the move.”
Due to Brexit-related regulations, Premier League clubs can only sign players from abroad who are over the age of 18. As such, United are unlikely to win the transfer race if Mora and his camp decide to push for a major move to Europe in 2026.
However, Ineos’s strategy of targeting young players with high potential has helped United secure the services of a South American gem.
Man United agree deal to sign Orozco
Early this week, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that United have struck an agreement with Fortaleza CEIF to sign their 17-year-old midfielder Cristian Orozco.
The Colombia U17 international will move to Old Trafford once he turns 18 in July next year.
Orozco captains his country’s U17 side, and the defensive midfielder is known for his leadership skills, physicality, and aggressive style out of possession.
