United emerge as shock suitors for Bundesliga speed demon, player open to Old Trafford move – report

Manchester United have emerged as potential surprise suitors for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman.

United are poised to dip into the market to bolster their options in the attacking department, after a season in which they’ve struggled to score goals consistently.

In addition to eyeing a striker, Ruben Amorim is also believed to be keen on players who can either slot into the No.10 role or the wing-back position. Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), Tyler Dibling (Southampton) and Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) continue to be linked to the club as the summer transfer window approaches.

Now, German journalist Christian Falk has revealed that another player could come onto United’s radar – Kingsley Coman, who would be open to such a move.

Coman and Bayern are expected to part ways this summer and there is no shortage of interest in his signature.

A few weeks ago, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg revealed that Arsenal were in contact with the Frenchman’s camp regarding a potential move.

🚨👀 There is contact between #Arsenal and Kingsley #Coman’s management, with both sides in ongoing communication.

Arsenal are aware that Saudi Arabia is a very appealing option for Coman, but they have expressed their interest.

Saudi Pro League outfits have also been mentioned to be eyeing Coman. His name has surfaced as a potential United target several times throughout his career, but a move has never come to fruition.

According to Falk, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle have sounded out the Frenchman but he is holding out for more elite clubs like United and Liverpool.

“I heard that Kingsley Coman’s agents are checking the markets. There’s still an opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia. But, of course, Kingsley would be open to still playing at an elite European level.”

“There were rumours of interest from Newcastle and Tottenham; this range would be possible for a move. However, Coman’s entourage still wants to check if there is interest from big six clubs like Liverpool, who are searching for such positions.”

“Perhaps also Manchester United, who previously held an interest in the player. At the moment, there’s nothing concrete. They’re just knocking on the doors of clubs and seeing if they need a player like him.”

Given that Amorim’s 3-4-3 system depends heavily on width and rapid wing-backs, Coman would slot seamlessly into the Portuguese manager’s setup. Not only is he blisteringly fast, but he also possesses quick feet and extensive experience at the top level.

It also helps that the 28-year-old can ply his trade on both sides of the pitch.
