Amorim prefers “unbelievable” PL talent over Mbeumo, 25yo has scored in both games against United – Sky

Manchester United are fully focussed on improving their attack after a dismal campaign in front of goal this season.

In fact, the team’s leading striker, Rasmus Hojlund, has a mere four Premier League goals all season and has three goals in all competitions this year.

Ruben Amorim wants not only a striker but also creative outlets who can supply that final pass to the frontman, something Hojlund has complained about all season.

Matheus Cunha seems the favourite to join the Red Devils in the summer, but plenty of links are emerging with Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.

Attacking reinforcements

But Sky Sports have revealed that the Cameroonian is not that high on United’s list, instead Amorim wants the club to try and sign Antoine Semenyo instead.

A lot of this will depend on United’s European campaign, and should Europa League triumph follow, there is a good chance multiple signings up front can be expected.

“Man Utd are understood to want the likes of Liam Delap, Matheus Cunha and one of either Antoine Semenyo or Bryan Mbeumo for their forward line, and they will become an increasingly attractive destination if they can offer Champions League football next season.

“Semenyo is believed to be ahead of Mbeumo on the list of targets at United, but Liverpool and Newcastle are also keen on both, as are Spurs, who would also be a much more attractive draw with Champions League football if they can beat United in the Europa League final.”

Semenyo ahead of Mbeumo

The Ghanaian has 11 goals and seven assists this season and can play out wide, up top and even in the wingback position on either flank, something which naturally excites Amorim.

He has scored in each of Bournemouth’s meetings with United this season, with Amorim seeing first-hand how deadly he can be in front of goal.

There has been murmurs that the 25-year-old could be Saudi Pro League-bound with the Cherries expected to demand close to £70 million given he has a contract valid until 2029.

Funds are tight at the moment, which explains why a concrete decision is expected to be taken after the May 21 Europa League final.
