Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford has reportedly made two huge concessions to get his permanent move to Barcelona over the line. Dream switch secured Rashford joined Barcelona last summer after he fell out of favour under now-sacked head coach Ruben Amorim. There was a lot of interest in him, but the player made it clear he was only keen on moving to the Blaugrana. He has been a key player for Barcelona this season as they push to retain their La Liga crown. Rashford has notched an impressive four goals and eight assists in 22 top-flight appearances this term. He has managed 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions. When United and Barcelona struck an agreement for the player, a buy-option of €30 million was inserted. There were suggestions that the Catalan outfit wanted to negotiate a reduction on the fee, but United had no interest in such dialogue, going as far as indicating they would welcome Rashford back and seek alternative suitors rather than budge on their valuation. Reports over the past few days have claimed that there is an agreement in place between Barcelona and Rashford over a permanent switch. This has been reaffirmed by TEAMtalk, who further note that Rashford said yes to a double compromise to push the transfer through. Rashford’s double sacrifice TEAMtalk report, “Marcus Rashford is on the brink of a permanent move to Barcelona after agreeing personal terms with the Catalan giants and making two major sacrifices in the process.” The news outlet claims that a source informed them, “He’s made it clear from day one he wants to stay in Catalunya. The club loves his attitude, and he’s willing to take less money than he’d earn in England just to make this happen.” TEAMtalk then add, “We also understand that, as well as his wages being reduced, the attacker will also forego some bonuses too, in a double sacrifice in order to seal his switch.” It’s believed the transfer will only be made official after this month’s presidential elections. Joan Laporta is widely expected to continue his tenure, and he and his team have been the strongest advocates for signing Rashford. Rashford’s United contract expires in 2028 but Barcelona are prepared to hand him extended terms once everything is finalised.
