The national team manager of Manchester United’s former midfielder Christian Eriksen has expressed concern over his current situation.
Eriksen’s time at United
The Dane joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 and spent three years at Old Trafford.
He played 107 times for United, scoring eight goals in the process.
Eriksen also won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup during his spell at the club.
Uncertain future
The creative midfielder’s contract expired in the summer and he has since been without a club.
There were links to Championship side Wrexham and also a move to former club Ajax seemed on the cards but he is still without a club with only a matter of days before the end of August.
Besiktas and Burnley have also been most recently credited with an interest in the star but once again, there has been little indication of a move.
Former Denmark international Thomas Gravesen has already expressed his concern for Eriksen and claimed that his football career could be in danger if he cannot find a new club soon.
Coach concern
With World Cup qualification for European sides starting next month, players will soon focus their attention to international issues.
Denmark’s head coach, Brian Riemer, will be hoping that Eriksen can play a key role in his side’s qualification process but he is currently concerned.
Speaking to Ekstrabladet, he stated, “it is an unfortunate situation that Christian has ended up in.”
He also put into doubt the role Eriksen might play in upcoming fixtures against Scotland and Greece by claiming, “it is clear that it is no secret that the fact that he has not played and has missed the start, and is now without a club less than two weeks before the meeting (next national team gathering), is a big challenge.”
Riemer added extra emphasis on his point by asserting that he “would be a complete idiot if I said it wasn’t a problem. Of course it’s a big challenge on all fronts.”
