Manchester United’s Under-18s continued their impressive start to the season with a 4-0 victory over Derby County on Saturday.
The young Reds were in complete control by the break in the East Midlands, thanks to a first-half hat-trick by Gabriel.
Captain Amir Ibragimov added a fourth midway through the second half from the penalty spot.
Darren Fletcher’s side opened the scoring at the Moor Farm Training Centre in the fifth minute with a right-footed shot from Gabriel.
Our fast start continued as Ibragimov went close with an effort which was saved by Derby goalkeeper Cristiano Dzialuk.
It was another commanding display from Darren Fletcher’s young Reds.
Just a minute after hitting the crossbar from outside the box, Gabriel doubled our advantage in the 14th minute with another right-footed effort.
More chances followed as a header by Albert Mills drew another save from Dzialuk.
The Reds increased our advantage before the half-hour mark as Gabriel completed his hat-trick, firing home on his left foot after being set up by Samuel Lusale following a fast break.
Derby made a bright start to the second period but the Reds still threatened to add to our tally, as Thwaites unleashed a shot which drew a fine save from the Rams’ goalkeeper.
United beat Brighton 4-0 in the U18s Premier League Cup on Wednesday night and matched that scoreline again on 66 minutes. Ibragimov found the bottom right corner from the spot, after Douka Abdoulaye was fouled inside the box by Braidy Connell-Webster.
Lusale, Ibragimov and Gabriel all brought saves from Dzialuk late on as the Reds dominated the closing stages, seeing out a fourth successive victory and clean sheet in all competitions so far in 2025/26.
