Newcastle’s concerns regarding Bruno Guimaraes’s potential departure to Premier League rivals Arsenal or Manchester United have been significantly heightened by a remarkable new revelation. United interest Having missed out on top targets Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, who are set to join Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, United will turn their attention to other midfield targets. United opted against getting dragged into bidding wars for Anderson and Fernandes. City and Nottingham Forest agreed a guaranteed £116m fee for Anderson, while Fernandes will join Tottenham for £85m. United felt that the sums involved for either player were too high. An alternative player that United are believed to be tracking is Guimaraes. Much like Anthony Gordon who sealed a switch to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali, who is looking to exit St James’ Park, it seems that Guimaraes’s days at Newcastle are also numbered. Newcastle’s failure to secure Champions League football after a 12th-place finish has weakened their ability to retain most of their top stars. A dominant midfielder who can be deployed either in the six or the eight, Guimaraes has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since his move from Lyon in 2022. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Arsenal made an enquiry for the Brazil international. It’s understood that Arsenal were prepared to fork out £55m for the player, but Newcastle are not willing to let him go. However, according to Chronicle Live, the Magpies are increasingly concerned about Guimaraes’s future following the sighting of his representatives alongside a super-agent. Fears heightened The news outlet reports that the 28-year-old’s agent, Alexis Malavolta, is tracking his every move while he is in North America for the World Cup. “Malavolta is jetting his way around the States to show his support for Bruno but was pictured with a key dealmaker who is well known to Arsenal following Brazil’s win over Japan in the last 32 of the competition in Houston.” “Bruno’s agent is part of the Bertolucci group, which is run by Giuliano Bertolucci, the football super agent who set up deals for Gabriel Magalhaes and David Luiz with the Gunners.” It’s understood that Guimaraes’s representative was also spotted with super-agent Kia Joorabchian, further fuelling Newcastle’s fears that his departure is being actively engineered. Chronicle Live say that Newcastle are not open to a sale but there are fears that they may be forced to let him go. Arsenal are of the belief that a £65m outlay would be adequate to secure Guimaraes’s services. The uncertainty, however, lies with United, whose willingness to match or exceed that valuation remains ambiguous. The very fact that Newcastle are increasingly concerned about their star man’s focus being elsewhere is perhaps the clearest indication yet that a move is there to be made.
