Scott McTominay has insisted that he has no regrets about leaving his boyhood club Manchester United in the summer to join Napoli.

Napoli announced McTominay’s signing during deadline day of the summer transfer window. It’s believed that United and the Serie A club reached an agreement for the Scotland international at around the £25 million mark.

The switch marked an end to McTominay’s 22-year association with the Red Devils, having joined them as a five-year-old in 2002.

He made 255 appearances for the 20-time English champions and won an FA Cup and League Cup during his time at Old Trafford.

At the time of his exit, the 27-year-old had a year left on his contract. He was not guaranteed to be a regular starter under Erik ten Hag and so, he elected to go elsewhere in search of greener pastures.

McTominay has so far been a hit with the Napoli fans, who have unsurprisingly taken to him like a duck to water.

The midfielder grabbed his third goal for the Partenopei last weekend, as they played out a 1-1 draw against Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan to remain at the top of the Serie A standings.

The Carrington academy graduate spoke to PA [via Manchester Evening News] and explained that he has not looked back since parting ways with United.

“It was a huge decision for me and my family and my friends. Times like that in your life you just have to say; ‘Do I want to do it’? Absolutely, and go for it.”

“There’s no looking back.”

“I’ve never had any regrets in my life or my career and I’ll continue that way to this day.”

“I want my career to be successful, and I’m going to go out of my way to try and push myself to be the best football player and best person that I can possibly be, as well.”

Meanwhile, United are back in action on November 24 when they travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town.
