Three of United’s September PL games rearranged including the derby

Manchester United have already had some changes to their September fixture list.

Tough start in August

Ruben Amorim will be desperate to get his team off to the best possible start after a disastrous campaign saw his side finish 15th in the Premier League table.

The fixture computer has not been kind though as they open the season against Arsenal at Old Trafford, before travelling to Fulham.

They will then face Burnley at home to conclude the month.

September changes

The Red Devils will also have a slightly different schedule than was planned when the fixtures were released in June.

The club’s official website reports that “Manchester United’s three Premier League fixtures in September have all been moved, to facilitate live television coverage.”

The start of the month will see the international break but domestic football will be back with a bang in the form of the Manchester derby.

The site states that, “the clash with our neighbours has been switched to the 14th September, kicking off at 16:30 BST, filling Sky Sports’ Super Sunday slot.”

United won last year 2-1 at the Etihad through a late goal by Amad and will hope for a similar result this time around.

The Red Devils’ fixture list doesn’t get any easier as they then host Chelsea on Saturday 20th September.

Whilst the original day stays the same, the time of the fixture has been moved to a 17:30 BST slot.

Bryan Mbeumo return

Finally, United will complete the Premier League fixtures for the month with a trip to Brentford.

The fixture will kick off on Saturday 27th September but at the earlier time of 12:30 BST.

The match will have an extra incentive as new signing Bryan Mbeumo will return to face his former side with the Red Devil on his chest.

Club still has pull

Despite the historically low Premier League finish last season and no European football, United clearly still have pull.

The fact that five of their first six matches have all been moved for TV suggests broadcasters know United still bring in the viewers like nobody else in England.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
