BACK David Tully Jan 16th 2026 Nottingham Forest defender Murillo is one of the names under consideration as Man Utd look at potential replacements for Harry Maguire, according to reports. With Maguire’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Daily Mail claims the Red Devils are putting contingency plans in place if the 32-year-old does leave Old Trafford. Murillo is still only 23 years of age, and he already has two and a half seasons of Premier League experience under his belt. Most fans on X believe the Brazilian would be a good addition to the squad: This will be good move — Breaking Views (@Breakingviewzzz) January 15, 2026 Great. When Murillo was linked to the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in previous transfer windows, Forest’s asking price seemingly put them off from making a move, and it remains to be seen whether United would be similarly deterred. The Man Utd target has expressed an interest in joining City Speaking back in the summer of 2024, Murillo revealed that he had ambitions of playing for one of three other Premier League clubs, including United’s fiercest rivals: “I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter, given the players they have in their squad. There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.” It has been 18 months since he made those remarks, so we don’t know whether he would be tempted by a move to Old Trafford as well, considering where Forest sit in the table now.
