‘That’s quite significant’: TNT Sports commentators notice Man Utd man nursing hamstring problem in first half

Harry Maguire looked to be feeling some discomfort in his hamstring in the first half against West Ham United. After lunging into a tackle, Manchester United’s No.5 stood up and walked gingerly while nursing the area.TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher reacted: “Keep an eye on Maguire since he made that challenge. He’s been touching his hamstring. That’s quite significant for Man United.”Maguire has already endured a stop-start 2025/2026It would indeed come as a sizeable blow if the 32-year-old had to spend any time on the sidelines, as Michael Carrick is already without Matthijs de Ligt for the foreseeable future. That being said, both Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro are available and will be chomping at the bit to come into the side and prove themselves under Carrick.Maguire is currently overseeing the final four months of his contract at Old Trafford before he would potentially leave as a free agent after seven years as a Red.However, reports have suggested that INEOS would be open to granting Maguire a short-term deal on reduced terms to continue benefitting from his experience.Carrick has made Maguire a mainstay in his XI(Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images)Since returning from a thigh injury setback in January, he has started all five matches of Carrick’s tenure thus far, including this evening at the London Stadium. He has played the full 90 minutes in the previous four outings, all of which were wins, so he will presumably do so against the Irons if he’s able to walk off his issue.United can strengthen their standing in the top-four race with a win tonight. Fifth-placed Chelsea are also in action and are currently beating Leeds United 2-1, while sixth-placed Liverpool take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, where the Black Cats are undefeated this season, tomorrow.DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL STRETTY NEWS APP FOR ALL THE LATEST UPDATES & BREAKING NEWS – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE!
