Mason Mount has been ruled out of Manchester United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final with Tottenham, while Noussair Mazraoui is a doubt for Thursday’s 20:00 GMT kick-off.
Both players were substituted during the Manchester derby victory at the weekend, with Ruben Amorim admitting afterwards he had concerns over their fitness.
The head coach provided an update on the pair in his pre-match interview with MUTV’s Mark Sullivan on Wednesday.
“Mason Mount is not available,” Ruben stated. “He has an injury. Nous, we will see today. The rest of the squad are ready to play the game.
“We have to asses all the players and try not to get a lot of injuries. If we do that, we’ll be stronger in these kind of moments.”

Press conference part one | Ruben Amorim is asked about Garnacho, Rashford and team news before Spurs away…
Luke Shaw has been sidelined after suffering a recent setback, while Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford’s absence from the squad against Manchester City has generated much media attention.
“They are training, so we will see,” Amorim reiterated about the two forwards, who have 15 goals between them in all competitions this term. “We have one more training [session], like I said in the press conference, they are our players. We are better with them.
“If they cope with training and the engagement with team-mates, they will be ready to play.”
TOTTENHAM’S TEAM NEWS
Destiny Udogie is hoping to prove his fitness, after the full-back was forced off during the convincing 5-0 win at Southampton in the Premier League.
“Destiny has no injury,” said Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. “But he is still a bit sore from the game. I’m not ruling him out but we’ll see how he is with the turnaround.”
Yves Bissouma is back from suspension but Rodrigo Bentancur remains banned, after an appeal about its severity failed.
There are a number of absentees now confirmed by Postecoglou, including issues at the heart of the defence, where Archie Gray has been filling in. Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven are all out, along with keeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Forwards Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlson are also unavailable for the hosts.
“Van de Ven and Romero are both chugging along,” added Postecoglou. “I think both, to be fair, will be [back] in the new year.
“It’s not as significant an injury as it was last time with Micky but, with having the setback, the medical team is just going to make sure he is right to go so both will be [back] in the new year at some point.
“Mikey is back in training. The next cabs off the rank are Mikey and Ben Davies, potentially next week, and Richarlison, potentially the first week of the new year.”
