Surprise outfit throw their hat into the ring for disgruntled United ace keen to jump ship in January – report

It is difficult to imagine what is going through the mind of Kobbie Mainoo at the moment. Just a year back, he was touted as one of Manchester United’s brightest talents and starred in the club’s FA Cup triumph against Manchester City. He started for England in the Euro final against Spain, and Ruben Amorim’s arrival was expected to herald the start of an even brighter era for the 20-year-old. However, it has proven to be anything but. This season, the Carrington graduate has not started a single game in the Premier League, and his only start came in the Carabao Cup in a defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town. Fenerbahce eyeing Kobbie Mainoo loan The Stockport-born ace is keen to play regularly so that he can travel to the World Cup next year, but for that, he has to change Amorim’s mind. As things stand, it looks like the head coach does not rate him, with the Englishman having to compete with Bruno Fernandes for a spot in the midfield. Napoli are keen on a move for the disgruntled star, but INEOS will only let him leave if it is a dry loan. The Serie A giants are looking at including an option to buy. As per Fanatik, the dry loan formula suits Fenerbahce just fine. “Fenerbahçe have also added Kobbie Mainoo to their radar. Unlikely to go to Turkiye at the moment “The English midfielder had wanted to leave last summer due to limited playing time under manager Rúben Amorim, but Manchester United refused to let him go. “Not much has changed since. The 20-year-old has played in only 8 of United’s 12 competitive matches, totaling just 228 minutes on the pitch. “Frustrated with his situation, Mainoo is determined to leave during the winter transfer window. Manchester United are ready to send the 20-year-old out on loan, making the deal financially attractive.” Given the calibre of clubs chasing the England international, it seems unlikely Kobbie Mainoo will choose Fenerbahce. A clearer picture will emerge when the January window finally opens.
