Stadium Sleep Out to return in November

Thursday 18 September 2025 11:00

Manchester United Foundation will host its fourth stadium Sleep Out on Friday 7 November, encouraging fans to help support vulnerable young people this winter.

The poignant event gives supporters the opportunity to swap their bed for a sleeping bag for the night, and sleep under the Mancunian night sky overlooking the hallowed turf of Old Trafford.

The Sleep Out offers fundraisers an insight into the work of Manchester United Foundation and allows them to support young people facing hardship and poverty over the winter months.

Over the past three years, over £100,000 has been raised, making a huge difference to young people in need. John Shiels, CEO of Manchester United Foundation, explains the importance of such support:

“There are young people in our city facing a winter of uncertainty and deprivation. At Manchester United Foundation, our aim is to positively impact the lives of youngsters who need this kind of support and initiatives like the Sleep Out helps us to do just that.

“The event has become a staple in the Foundation calendar and it’s fantastic to see how it harnesses the togetherness of our communities and raises vital funds year on year, which allows our work with vulnerable young people to continue.

“Sleep Out will be a challenge for you, but by taking part you will be demonstrating the power of a united effort and I can assure you that you will make a real difference to those who need it most in your community.”

The Sleep Out has also received support from former Reds over the years, including Lou Macari, David May and Danny Simpson. Speaking after last year’s event, Danny said: “It’s been a pleasure to be here this evening. I’m a local boy, so it means something to me to try and help my community in any way I can. I’ve seen first-hand the impact the Foundation has – it’s been a really positive night.”

Manchester United Foundation works with more than 40,000 young people each season, delivering community and education programmes across Greater Manchester.

The funds raised from the Sleep Out will change lives for the better and help the Foundation to provide vital services to local young people.

Registration for the Sleep Out is £35 per person and all participants will be asked to pledge a minimum of £250 to support those in need.
