South American sensation wanted by United earns admirers at Sporting after cup final heroics – report

Manchester United’s pursuit of an emerging South American talent appears well justified following his scintillating performance in a recent cup final. It is no secret that the Red Devils are looking for a new midfielder at the moment, with the position fast becoming the Achilles’ heel of Ruben Amorim’s side. Bruno Fernandes’ recent injury has only added to United fans’ trauma and laid bare how thin the Premier League giants are in the middle of the park. Amorim does have Kobbie Mainoo in his squad, but the youngster has struggled to convince the Portuguese head coach and remains linked with an exit in 2026. The situation has prompted the Red Devils to monitor several midfielders from the Premier League and abroad. As has been the norm with INEOS of late, United are also keeping an eye on rising talents around the world to build a backbone of youth. A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person states that the English giants have Corinthians’ emerging star Breno Bidon firmly on their wish list. A sizzling Copa do Brasil performance Bidon has caught the eye with Corinthians this season and was also impressive in the State Championship final earlier this year, helping his team defeat Palmeiras 1-0. The 20 year old sizzled once again on Sunday, 21 December, powering his team to a 2-1 win over Vasco da Gama in the Copa do Brasil final. Bidon was especially brilliant in the build-up to Memphis Depay’s winner, skipping past Cauan Barros to free up space and initiate the attack. His performance has forced several clubs to take note. Atletico Madrid already hold an interest in the Brazilian and have reportedly offered €18 million for his signature. Corinthians want €20 million to let their prized asset leave, and talks between the two parties have not progressed so far. It now appears that another club has entered the race to sign the talented midfielder in 2026. Sporting want Bidon According to reports in Brazil via Sport Witness, Sporting are keeping a close eye on Bidon. The Brazilian’s mature performance in the cup final has convinced the Portuguese champions, who are fast emerging as serious contenders in the race. The report adds that Sporting will consider a move for the player if Hidemasa Morita ends up leaving the club. Bidon has been on fire this season and has made 56 appearances across competitions, 45 of which have been starts. Manchester United have also been mentioned, but the report adds that the English giants are yet to make a formal move for the Brazilian. Bidon is under contract until 2029 and has a €100 million release clause in his deal. However, given the Brazilian club’s poor financial situation, a deal could materialise for far less. Final Thoughts Bidon fits United’s refurbished transfer strategy. He is young, he is talented, and he is available for a modest fee. With Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes’ futures uncertain, the youngster could help usher in a new era at the Theatre of Dreams. The Red Devils, therefore, have to step up their pursuit before a rival picks him up from under their noses.
