Sky Sports confirm Chelsea’s final decision on Jadon Sancho, putting an end to media circus

Following a flurry of conflicting media reports, it appears that Chelsea will purchase Jadon Sancho from Manchester United at the end of his loan to Stamford Bridge.

Having struggled to adjust to life at Man United since arriving at the club, Sancho was sent out on loan to Chelsea by manager Ruben Amorim, who clearly did not expect the winger’s fortunes to change.

Since then, there has been a back-and-forth argument within the media over whether or not Sancho will receive a second chance from Amorim.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Sancho will indeed sign for Chelsea on a permanent basis upon the conclusion of his loan deal.

This came despite another report explaining that Chelsea could still back out of their obligation to buy the English forward by paying £5m to United to back out of the agreement.

But the speculation surrounding Sancho’s future isn’t just limited to the player either signing for Chelsea or heading back to Old Trafford. There was even a report claiming that Chelsea may sign Sancho only to sell him later on so that they wouldn’t be subject to paying United for failing to adhere to the existing agreement.

Now, however, it appears that there would be no need for Chelsea to consider such desperate actions.

“Chelsea are still expected to sign Jadon Sancho permanently in the summer despite the emergence of a get-out clause existing in the deal,” Sky Sports posted on X today.

“Man United would be due a £5m penalty payment from Chelsea, should the London club wish to get out of the £25m obligation included in his ongoing season-long loan deal,” Sky Sports added in a comment below, thus confirming earlier reports regarding the penalty for not honouring the deal.

For Sancho to join Chelsea on a permanent basis would probably be for the best, not only in terms of the player’s career development but also United’s current predicament.

With Marcus Rashford going out on loan following his own issues at Old Trafford, it only makes sense for Amorim to cut previously problematic stars who caused locker-room drama at the club.

After all, United’s performances on the pitch this season have left a lot to be desired, with the UEFA Europa League remaining as the club’s last opportunity to win silverware and perhaps enter Europe next season.

Ultimately, Sancho’s departure would probably be best for all parties involved.
