Man Utd transfer target Felix Nmecha is expected to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg. Writing on his X account, Plettenberg said that the German international will put pen to paper on a four-year deal: “Borussia set to extend Felix Nmecha’s contract. It’s decided. Agreement reached after breakthrough talks with Sebastian Kehl. New deal expected to run until 2030. ” It has been claimed that Nmecha was attracting interest from the Red Devils, as well as rivals Manchester City and Chelsea. The midfielder’s agents may have used Man Utd It seems like that the rumours linking United with Nmecha had been fed to the media by his representatives. Considering the speed at which talks over a new deal were finalised, it appears the transfer speculation forced Dortmund’s hand, and the Bundesliga club caved into the player’s demands. Nmecha’s asking price was already very high Dortmund were thought to be only willing to sell the midfielder for around €70m (£60m), which is a substantial amount, and many would suggest he was overpriced anyway. While the likes of Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton would cost more than that, they are Premier League proven, unlike Nmecha, who only made seven appearances for Man City before moving back to Germany. It is still not entirely clear who the Red Devils will prioritise as they look to strengthen their midfield options. One key factor is Champions League qualification. If Michael Carrick can’t secure a top 4/5 finish, the club would have to reduce their summer transfer budget, making moves for Tonali and Anderson a lot harder to pull off. Want more news on Man Utd?
