Sergio Ramos was subject of heavy interest from Manchester United over a decade ago. The World Cup-winning central defender received “a firm offer” from United in 2025, but he eventually decided to renew his contract at Santiago Bernabeu. Now, having left Mexican outfit Monterrey, the former Real Madrid superstar is seeking a return to Europe. Early this month, United were linked with the 39-year-old Spaniard. However, as per ESPN, the Red Devils have no interest in re-opening talks for him, as they are focused on signing younger players. Nice trying to sign Sergio Ramos According to Fichajes, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who co-owns United, is considering the possibility of signing Ramos for OGC Nice. INEOS-owned Nice find themselves in a crisis following a run of five defeats in their last five Ligue 1 matches. The 13th-placed French outfit are crying out for a leader to steady the ship and guide their young and inconsistent squad. Accordingly, the four-time Champions League winner has landed on their radar. Despite his ageing legs, Ramos enjoyed a solid campaign in Mexico. The Spanish outlet suggest that Ramos is open to joining Nice as he is already aware of the demands of French football, having played for Paris Saint-Germain between 2021 and 2023. Manchester United duo linked with Nice Nice are looking to strengthen their midfield as well, and United could help their cause on that front. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Nice have enquired about a potential loan deal for Ugarte ahead of the January transfer window. The Uruguayan midfielder, who has also previously represented PSG, has struggled for form in the Premier League. Apart from Ugarte, Nice are hoping to secure the services of Diego Leon. The promising 18-year-old full-back is not ready for first-team football at Old Trafford. As such, he would benefit from a temporary exit.
