Premier League newcomers Sunderland are reportedly weighing up the possibility of signing Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee on loan. Zirkzee in demand Zirkzee is attracting plenty of interest both from within England and abroad, amidst increasing uncertainty over his future at United. He has struggled for playing time so far this season, only managing 82 minutes of top-flight action. Zirkzee remains a positive influence in the dressing room but it’s believed he is becoming more desperate about his situation at the club ahead of the 2026 World Cup. He is keen to secure a place in Ronald Koeman’s plans ahead of the tournament, making his peripheral status at United a significant concern. While United have no desire to offload the Dutchman, clubs are still lining up in the event that the Red Devils perform a U-turn. Zirkzee continues to be linked with several suitors including West Ham, Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Sevilla, AS Roma and Juventus. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Zirkzee’s preference is to return to Italy. Now, TEAMtalk reveal that Sunderland have become the latest club to enter the fray for the 24-year-old. Sunderland want Zirkzee TEAMtalk also argue that United are prepared to sanction Zirkzee’s exit, with a potential replacement already lined up. According to the news outlet, “Manchester United are ready to let Joshua Zirkzee leave in January, but they do have strong conditions attached to any departure, while we can clarify links to Dusan Vlahovic amid claims the Red Devils plan to bring in the Juventus striker as a replacement.” The report notes that West Ham are in pole position for Zirkzee but Everton and Aston Villa are also keeping close tabs on the situation. Meanwhile, Sunderland are “letting it be known they would consider a potential loan deal” for the player. TEAMtalk add, “United have let it be known they are willing to sanction his exit, though the message is clear to his suitors: a permanent sale below €40m (£35m, $46m) will not be sanctioned, but a loan – with or without an option to buy – appears their preferred route, with the hope it could spark summer interest and lead to their asking price being met.” Ruben Amorim’s side have been offered Vlahovic but the Serbian is not a top target for the club. Juventus are also hopeful that Vlahovic will stay in Turin. Sunderland are enjoying a dream return to the Premier League. The Black Cats currently sit in fourth place in the table, having amassed an impressive 18 points. They’ve won five, drawn three and lost two of their opening 10 fixtures.
