Shock club trying to sign £70m United star, he was dreadful against Leeds – report

Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte are all facing uncertain futures at Manchester United.  The latter two have struggled for regular minutes under Ruben Amorim. Galatasaray are willing to hand an escape route to Ugarte and Napoli are keen on signing Mainoo this month. Casemiro’s situation is a bit different. Manchester United are yet to renew Casemiro’s contract Casemiro has been a mainstay under Amorim despite an obvious physical decline and drop in form this season. The 33-year-old Brazilian has made 17 starts in the Premier League, delivering a mixed bag of performances. In United’s 1-1 draw against Wolves, the side’s most experienced player was a liability in possession, leaving the defence vulnerable with his reckless decision making. He was sloppy against Leeds United as well.  Casemiro Stats: 2025/26 Season CompetitionAppearancesGoalsAssistsYellow CardsRed Cards Premier League184151 EFL Cup––––– Total184151 The ex-Real Madrid man, who moved to Old Trafford in a deal worth £70m, is also United’s highest paid player. He reportedly takes home around £350,000-a-week. As such, United are reluctant to hand him a new contract. Casemiro has entered the final six months of his deal in Manchester and is free to negotiate with other clubs ahead of a free transfer at the end of the season. Casemiro looks to be MLS-bound According to the Daily Mail, MLS outfit LA Galaxy are interested in signing Casemiro. It has been previously reported that New York City FC, Austin FC, and Inter Miami are all monitoring the Brazil international. Saudi Arabian clubs might be able to offer Casemiro more lucrative deals, but the appeal of life in the US has made the MLS his most likely destination. In 2018, Zlatan Ibrahimovic left the Red Devils to join LA Galaxy. Former United stars David Beckham and Javier Hernandez have also had stints with the Los Angeles-based outfit. The Daily Mail add that United want to sign two midfielders as part of their midfield overhaul. However, they may have to wait until summer to get their targets. United explored the possibility of signing Carlos Baleba in January, but Brighton insist on keeping hold of the Cameroon international at least until the end of the campaign.
