Sevilla in “advanced” negotiations to sign 24-yo United star, player poised to “accept a loan move” – report

Two La Liga clubs are set to fight it out for the signature of Manchester United’s disgruntled forward Joshua Zirkzee.

United’s attacking trio of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko received plenty of plaudits for their performance at Liverpool.

Cunha pushed the visitors high up the field with his ball-carrying and hold-up play. Mbeumo’s runs in behind gave the Liverpool defence nightmares. And Sesko brilliantly linked up with his teammates after coming off the bench for the final 30 minutes.

Zirkzee struggling under Amorim

Zirkzee, meanwhile, had to spend another game on the bench. The Dutch striker has yet to start for United in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old ex-Bologna star showed signs of promise as a wide playmaker in the second half of last season.

However, he has fallen down the pecking order under Amorim this term and is reported to be “deeply frustrated” with lack of action.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Real Betis are interested in signing the Netherlands international, having already secured the services of his former teammate Antony from United last summer.

Sevilla keen on Zirkzee

According to Fichajes, Zirkzee is “seriously” considering the possibility of leaving United in the winter transfer window.

They claim that “sources close to the player” suggest he could “accept a loan move” in order to rediscover his form and rhythm.

The Spanish outlet state that Sevilla are willing to challenge their rivals, Betis, to sign Zirkzee.

It is understood Sevilla are prepared to secure the United forward’s services on loan, but they want the Premier League giants to cover part of his salary.

Negotiations over Zirkzee’s purported move to Spain are thought to be “at an advanced stage.”
