Juventus are determined to rescue Jadon Sancho from his Manchester United nightmare and could use Dusan Vlahovic or Douglas Luiz in a swap deal to secure their man, according to reports.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Turin side have long appreciated the Englishman, and “the direct link that has united Sancho and Juve for over a year has never been broken”.
Juventus tried to sign Sancho last summer but were beaten to the punch by Chelsea, who took the player on loan with an obligation to buy but ultimately stumped up £5m to pull out of the deal at the end of the season and send him back to Old Trafford.
With Sancho firmly out of Ruben Amorim’s plans the priority for United is to find a way to get the winger’s gigantic wages off their books and push through a permanent sale to help fund a summer squad rebuild.
Like almost every potential suitor Juventus cannot match the 25-year-old’s current salary, but hope to convince him to accept a smaller pay packet by offering “a prominent place in the squad.”
What’s more, the Italian outlet maintains that Sancho “considers the Juve shirt prestigious” and would like to wear it “if the conditions were right.”
By all accounts the Serie A giants are obsessed with the winger, and are prepared to use one of their own out-of-favour stars to try and sweeten the deal for United, with whom they have been in contact through intermediaries.
It’s common knowledge by now that Vlahovic is likely to be on the move this summer, and with United famously on the lookout for a new centre-forward his name has been mentioned as a potential new arrival.
Like Sancho’s, the Serbian striker’s contract expires next year and the report suggests that the Red Devils and the Old Lady could look to exchange the two to “keep the value of both players alive and not lose out.”
Luiz is also touted as a potential makeweight, with his time in Turin not quite going to plan and a return to the Premier League the most likely solution.
The Brazilian midfielder neared an exit in January, with United reportedly an interested party, but ultimately stayed to try and make his mark in Italy which didn’t work out.
Gazzetta dello Sport push the Vlahovic angle harder, and it’s an intriguing possibility given United’s desire both to get rid of Sancho and to sign a proven goalscorer.
