Serie A giants in hot pursuit of €60m United star completely ignored by Carrick – Fabrizio Romano

Michael Carrick’s arrival has been a breath of fresh air for several Manchester United youngsters. Kobbie Mainoo has become an undisputed starter, and Benjamin Sesko is enjoying a hot goalscoring streak, with his latest goal, a header, securing all three points against Crystal Palace over the weekend. However, one high-profile youngster has been pushed to the fringes at Old Trafford. Manuel Ugarte facing uncertain future at Manchester United Manuel Ugarte has not started a single game under Michael Carrick, who has given just 28 minutes to the midfielder in his first seven games in charge of Manchester United. Ugarte, who joined United from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024 in a €60 million deal including add-ons, remained an unused substitute in his side’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at home. The 24-year-old has more than three years left on his contract at Old Trafford, but he is unlikely to remain at the club for long given his situation. The Uruguayan has struggled to adapt to the league’s intensity, and his technical ability and passing are below par, to say the least. As such, a move away from England might be best for his career. Serie A clubs interested in signing Manuel Ugarte According to Fabrizio Romano, Ugarte could leave United in the summer. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said there is “already some movement about clubs interested” in Ugarte. It is understood Serie A sides are considering the possibility of making a move for Ugarte. Romano also confirmed that Galatasaray showed interest in the Manchester United midfielder in the winter transfer window, but the pursuit did not reach an advanced stage.  However, the Uruguay international could “assess options” in the summer and part ways with United. Former Red Devil Scott McTominay has found a lot of success in Italy after joining Napoli in the same summer Ugarte arrived in Manchester.
