Serie A giants “have started contact” with agents of struggling United star about January loan deal – Di Marzio

Juventus are in contact with the representatives of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee over a transfer this month, reports the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio.

Zirkzee has endured a nightmare time at United since he joined the club from Bologna in the summer.

He scored on his Premier League debut against Fulham but since then, he has only managed an additional three goals across all competitions.

The Netherlands international recently featured during his side’s league clash against Newcastle United but was withdrawn after just 33 minutes for Kobbie Mainoo. It was claimed that Zirkzee was almost reduced to tears as fans sarcastically cheered his substitution.

Despite his struggles at Old Trafford, Zirkzee is not short of suitors, with the likes of Juventus, Napoli and Bologna among clubs mentioned to be interested in his signature.

Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli recently said that the Serie A giants are keeping their eyes open for any interested opportunities, in response to being asked whether or not they want Zirkzee.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Turin-based outfit are keen on acquiring Zirkzee on loan with an option to buy while United prefer a straight sale.

This has now been confirmed by Di Marzio, who further notes that Juventus have reached out to Zirkzee’s representatives.

Interestingly, Di Marzio reports that United want to include a buy-back option in any deal that would see Zirkzee reunited with his former Bologna coach Thiago Motta.

“The black and white club has started contact with the entourage of the former Bologna striker, who is finding little space at Manchester United and recently Amorim replaced him for technical reasons after just half an hour of play.”

“Juventus’ idea would be to take the 2001-born player on loan, but for the moment Manchester United are not open to this solution. The Red Devils, in fact, would like to include a buy-back obligation.”

“The English [club] would like to sell the former Bayern Munich player permanently or with a possible obligation to buy.”

Zirkzee and his teammates are back in action on Sunday when they face Liverpool at Anfield.
