Senne Lammens: Man United keeper endears himself to fans after decision

Manchester United had numerous players involved in the World Cup this summer in North America.

Returning stars

The Red Devils have played two pre-season matches so far with players who were not involved in the World Cup, with the exception of Scot Tyler Fletcher.

Nonetheless, some players, such as Ivorian Amad, have been filtering back into first team training after their summer break.

There were two new arrivals this week, with United’s two Belgians returning to the first team.

New signing Youri Tielemans joined the group for the first time, alongside fellow new signings Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, and Tynan Thompson.

Senne Lammens commitment

United’s goalkeeper Senne Lammens impressed everybody last year with his cool demeanour and ability between the posts.

He was thrown into the deep end last season as United’s number one and handled himself admirably, producing a string of fine performances and delivering an overall calmness at the back which was seldom seen with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Early return

The club’s website showed a picture of Lammens returning to Carrington with a beaming smile across his face.

Nonetheless, United fans will be even happier to learn that Lammens cut his holiday short to be with the rest of the team.

Sources have told ESPN that, “Senne Lammens has cut his holiday short to return to training with Manchester United ahead of the new season.”

The site continues to explain, “Lammens was due to report back to Carrington on Monday, but has chosen to return on Thursday — four days early. Sources have told ESPN that the goalkeeper is keen to get back to club football after the World Cup and build on his successful first season at Old Trafford.”

Lammens reportedly asked the club if he could come back earlier to ensure he was ready for his second season at the club.
