Ruthless Ineos plot £250m United revolution with shock exits on the cards – report

It is the worst-kept secret in football that Manchester United’s engine room is set for a major rebuild in 2026. Although Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes have provided a decent foundation, the midfield has not reached the level required. It can, and must, be better. The transformation should have begun last summer, yet it did not. INEOS had identified Carlos Baleba as a priority target, but Brighton & Hove Albion stood firm, refusing to part with their 21-year-old star. United, unwilling to force the issue, chose not to press ahead with the transfer. Nor did they seek a short-term solution; instead, they decided they would revisit the deal next year. As highlighted, while Casemiro and Fernandes have offered quality, United are craving additional options to elevate the heart of their side. Midfield overhaul in motion While links to elite midfielders continue to surface, Teamtalk has now revealed a striking plan that is certain to divide opinion among supporters. “Manchester United are planning to sign THREE new midfielders worth a mammoth £250m,” the UK publication reports. Casemiro and Fernandes set for exit Such ambition, however, comes with sacrifices. According to the report: “United are set to offload three players to fund their midfield rebuild: Marcus Rashford, who is expected to join Barcelona permanently next summer, Casemiro, whose contract expires at the end of the season, and most strikingly, club captain Bruno Fernandes.” Perfect replacements identified Letting Casemiro and Fernandes depart would undoubtedly be controversial given their clear understanding of Amorim’s system, yet INEOS appears to have a clear plan to soften the backlash. “The triple exit, which will free up a significant amount of space on the wage bill, will enable United to seriously pursue their top midfield targets,” Teamtalk adds. Those targets are Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Carlos Baleba, all Premier League talents with proven pedigree. Proven Premier League formula United’s recent signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have already demonstrated the value of recruiting tried-and-tested Premier League stars. Replacing Fernandes and Casemiro with similarly established names could prove a logical step. Such a rebuild would not only secure United’s midfield for years to come but also allow Amorim to fully implement his tactical blueprint. With the centre of the park finally stabilised, the Red Devils may at last unlock their true potential.
