Ruben names team for Clarets clash

Ruben Amorim has named his Manchester United side to take on Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The boss has made eight changes to the team that was knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties at Grimsby Town in midweek.

Altay Bayindir replaces Andre Onana to keep up his run of league appearances in goal, while the three central defenders who started at Fulham last Sunday return to the line-up.

Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw were not involved in Lincolnshire, while Matthijs de Ligt was brought on as a half-time substitute, but the trio are in from the off today.

Casemiro partners Bruno Fernandes in midfield, while it looks as though Amad and Diogo Dalot are the wing-backs, on the right and left flanks respectively.

Matheus Cunha is the only player other than Amad and Dalot to retain his place in the XI, and the Brazilian could lead the line in a fluid-looking attack, with Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount as the number 10s.

Noussair Mazraoui returns to the bench after injury.

“We have to take [into] account of what we see against Grimsby,” Ruben said to Sky Sports. “Sesko did 90 minutes. We were thinking a different thing, but he did 90 minutes – [it was a] struggle in the end, because he didn’t play so many minutes in the pre-season.

“We are going to return Altay [to the XI] because he is doing his job in the league and Patrick [Chinazaekpere Dorgu] sometimes we change that position because of the foot – to have a right foot in there, to see the characteristics of the opponent and try to imagine also the game in the end.

“So that is always the same question. We try to put the best XI to start thinking about finishing the game with a different XI.”
