Ruben Amorim confused about Ayden Heaven’s injury after sensational 18 year old stretchered off against Leicester City

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has insisted that his side dominated the game and deserved to beat Leicester City but admitted he was not too pleased with certain mistakes in possession.

United ran out 3-0 winners at the King Power Stadium to move to 13th place in the Premier League table.

Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal in three months to put United ahead before Alejandro Garnacho doubled the advantage soon after his initial strike was ruled out.

Bruno Fernandes, who provided the assists for the first two goals, scored the pick of the bunch himself in stoppage time.

After the final whistle, Amorim spoke to Sky Sports [via BBC liveblog] and gave his verdict on the performance and the result.

He told Sky, “I think it was good. I felt a little bit of a lack of energy, but they gave everything. Some players were tired but I think we deserved the win.”

“We controlled the game. We could have been better with the ball but I understand after these two weeks. It was a perfect way to end this week with our away supporters. They are amazing.”

Amorim said about Fernandes, “What we see every week. But the most important thing is the work he puts in every week.”

On Hojlund finally breaking his goal drought, Amorim remarked, “A difficult goal with difficult control with his right foot. It’s a shame we stop for the national teams biggest we have confidence.”

United were dealt a huge injury blow after Ayden Heaven was stretched off injured in the early stages of the second half.

Heaven hit the floor after making contact with Patson Daka and looked to be in extreme pain.

Amorim said about Heaven, “It’s hard to know because we have to evaluate during the week. He already played well against Arsenal and Real Sociedad. Today for me was the most difficult game for him because we expect him to relax a bit, but he was so focused.”

The United boss added, “It was clear today my players are at the limit. We are going to use this window to rest and recover, it will be good.”

“The feeling is completely different. When we return it will be like starting from scratch.”

Amorim also spoke to BBC MOTD and pointed out, “I felt a lack of energy, but that is normal after so many games. They gave everything, we scored three goals and I think we should be better defending our box. We always want more. After these two weeks with a lot of games I think they performed quite well.”

On Garnacho and Hojlund, he noted, “The most important thing for me is the work they are putting in, especially defending. They live for assists and scoring goals. Rasmus really good control right foot and then Garnacho is always trying to score a goal and he deserved that feeling.”

The Portuguese coach told BBC Match of the Day that Heaven found it difficult to explain how he’s feeling but the January signing will be assessed further this week.

“We have to evaluate during the week. He’s a young kid and he doesn’t know how to explain what he’s feeling – it is hard for us to know. He’s a bit calm now, but we have to assess in the week.”

On a positive note, Harry Amass made his senior United debut  – an occasion that was extra special because it was also his birthday.

Amorim said about Amass, “First of all it’s his birthday so it is a special day. They have to understand they’re so lucky to play for Man Utd. At the same moment, I have so much fun putting young kids to play.”

United are back in action on April 1 when they go away to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.
