Romano kills huge United transfer rumour stone dead, there is “zero” chance superstar joins in January

Manchester United spent big on fresh attacking options over the summer, breaking the £200m mark to address their lack of goals. Ruben Amorim was handed a brace of new number 10s in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko was signed from RB Leipzig to spearhead the attack. The young Slovenian has made a promising start, but his return of two goals from 11 games shows he still has a way to go to shoulder the entire burden of United’s centre-forward slot. Endrick links Regardless of how he got started, it seems that United always planned to recruit another attack to take the pressure off their summer signing and protect him from the burnout which was the downfall of Rasmus Hojlund. As it stands Sesko is the only senior out-and-out striker, although Matheus Cunha can play the role and Chido Obi is an incredibly promising youngster currently operating in the youth team. In recent weeks the Red Devils have been strongly linked with a loan move for Real Madrid starlet Endrick, who has struggled for game time under Xabi Alonso. Romano pours cold water Respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has already reported that the French side have opened talks over a loan deal for the 19-year-old. And he has now reiterated that there is no prospect of United moving for the player, with the chances of a transfer a big fat “zero”. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that: “Rumours about Endrick joining Manchester United are zero because he wants to play. “He would be ready to compete, as he is doing at Real Madrid, but what he wants most right now is regular playing time to show his skills and develop.” There is certainly no guarantee that Endrick would break into United’s first-choice front three, so a move elsewhere makes more sense for him. Romano said: “The favourite for Endrick right now is Olympique Lyon. There are ongoing conversations for a simple loan, no buy clause, no permanent deal. He doesn’t want to leave Madrid permanently.” Whether the Red Devils dip into the market in January for further forward reinforcements remains to be seen.
