Romano: ‘Expected to leave’ in Jan – Real Madrid star being eyed by United has now expressed his desire to move

Manchester United are among a host of clubs sizing up a mid-season swoop for Real Madrid wantaway Endrick.

Indeed, the Red Devils are said to have privately established their interest in taking the coveted forward on loan in the January transfer window, so Fabrizio Romano’s latest update will be music to INEOS’ ears.

The reporter confirmed this morning that Endrick is now ‘expected to leave’ Madrid in two months’ time. He is keen to secure more game time in the build-up to next year’s World Cup, where he’ll be hoping to represent Brazil on the biggest stage under former manager Carlo Ancelotti.

In turn, Los Blancos are also open to facilitating his exit, with talks ‘already taking place’ to put the wheels in motion.

The 19-year-old was considered one of the hottest prospects in world football following his meteoric breakthrough at Palmeiras. At the time, he had garnered a lengthy list of suitors, but opted to commit his long-term future to Madrid.

However, there’s certainly a case to be made that Endrick made the leap to the European giants too soon, as he has since struggled to stake his claim in the first team amid stern competition in attack.

He has yet to feature under Xabi Alonso this season, initially missing the beginning of the campaign through a thigh injury before spending the last five La Liga games watching on as an unused substitute.

Endrick did make 37 appearances across all competitions in 2024/2025, albeit only eight were from the off.

It remains to be seen whether the youngster himself would look favourable on a move to Old Trafford, given they have no European football to offer and have already been knocked out of the League Cup.
