As things stand, Casemiro is poised to leave Manchester United when his contract expires next summer.
Indeed, the Brazilian veteran is now in the final nine months of his terms at Old Trafford, although the club do have the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months via the one-year clause they included when he signed back in 2022.
What Fabrizio Romano is hearing about Casemiro’s future
Despite Casemiro working his way up Ruben Amorim’s estimations to become one of his most trusted lieutenants nowadays, Fabrizio Romano believes there’s a ‘concrete chance’ that he departs in 2026.
Romano adds that Casemiro is ‘one to watch’ in the coming months, given he’ll be able to open talks with any potential foreign suitors from January – and Romano has some ideas of where the midfielder may end up.
Speaking on YouTube this week, the transfer reporter suggested it’s likely Casemiro pulls the curtains on his European career entirely when his time with United comes to an end, with a move to either the MLS or Saudi Pro League mooted as plausible destinations.
Assuming he does indeed bid farewell to United at the end of 2025/2026, INEOS would be parting ways with the side’s highest earner; the 33-year-old is said to pocket around £350,000 per week in Manchester, however, that may have been slightly reduced after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League last term.
How Casemiro has fared under Ruben Amorim
Casemiro faced an uphill battle to prove himself to Amorim when the coach succeeded Erik ten Hag last November; he was an unused substitute for 16 matches in total at Amorim’s disgression.
Yet, by the closing stages of the campaign, the five-time Champions League winner had done enough to see himself restored to the starting XI on a weekly basis – he started every Europa League fixture from the last-16 first leg to the final, for example.
Such faith in the experienced Red has continued into the new season, as Casemiro has started each of United’s three Premier League fixtures thus far.
