Marcus Rashford has absolutely no intention of reviving his Manchester United career next season.
Technically, there is a possibility he could’ve returned to Old Trafford at the end of the campaign, as Barcelona only have an option to make his move permanent – not an obligation.
However, all signs are currently pointing towards the reigning La Liga champions activating the clause next year after being thoroughly impressed with Rashford’s start to the term.
How has Rashford fared since swapping United for Barcelona?
In his first 10 appearances for Barcelona, the on-loan Red has returned three goals and five assists across all competitions.
Three goal contributions were notched in his two Champions League appearances, with the remainder coming in eight La Liga matches.
Such stellar form has led to Rashford receiving plaudits for his instant impact, with him quickly establishing himself as one of Hansi Flick’s most trusted lieutenants already.
Remarkably, Barcelona will only have to pay £26 million if they are to sign the 27-year-old.
United had included a £40m buy option when Rashford spent the second half of 2024/2025 on loan with Aston Villa before, for some bizarre reason, reducing their demands when negotiating with the Blaugrana.
Assuming he continues with his top-drawer performances each week, it could turn out to be an absolute steal for Barcelona come next June.
What Fabrizio Romano is hearing about Rashford’s future
When weighing in on the Carrington graduate’s situation over in Catalonia, Fabrizio Romano said on YouTube last night: “For Marcus Rashford, there’s no obligation to buy, it’s a loan with a buy option for €30 million. This is the fee in case Barcelona decide to sign Rashford in the summer of 2026.
“Rashford isn’t even thinking about a United return from the loan or maybe making it again at Man United one day. The full focus is on Barcelona. The feeling internally at Barcelona is positive with the behaviour of Marcus Rashford, not just the performances. I think they’re is a very good chance to see Barcelona and Rashford continue in the future, but it will depend on several factors.”
